About me
A Veteran Setting Down Roots in the Community
I was born in Long Branch, NJ to Robert and Julia King in 1982. Our family relocated to rural PA in 1993. Following high school in 2001, I joined the Navy as a Nuclear Electronics Technician. I was stationed in Charleston, SC and Ballston Spa, NY for military schools before being transferred to Groton, CT where I served on the USS Hartford for 5 years as a Reactor Technician and Operator. Following more military school in Portsmouth, VA, I served as a Radiological Controls Technician in Groton, CT for another 3 years before being honorably discharged upon completing my military service in 2010. Between 2010 and 2012 I attended Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, CT, earning an Associate’s Degree in Laser and Fiber Optic Technology. In 2013, I began working as a laser technician at Trumpf, Inc in Farmington, CT. In 2016, I was hired by IPG Photonics in Oxford where I am currently employed.
I purchased my first home in New London, CT while I was stationed in nearby Groton in 2004, but spent a year and a half in Dover, NH for the USS Hartford’s overhaul in 2006/2007. I also lived with my fiancé at the time in New York, NY for 2013. In 2018 after years of exceedingly long commutes, I decided it was time to move closer to work and began looking for a place in the area to make my ‘forever home’ and purchased our home at 59 Quobaug Ave in Oxford.
I first ran for election to the Oxford Board of Selectmen in the November 2021 special election, but was defeated by Norman Leblanc. I ran a second time in the annual May 2022 town election and was elected.
